Destiny has always been about the chase. Whether you’re knocking out a quick 15-minute Strike for a daily powerful gear drop or convincing your raid team to make one more attempt for that ultra-rare Exotic drop, Destiny is at its best when that next thing you want is just within reach.
From inception, we always wanted this release to be about the lost weapons and the Golden Age lore about the Black Armory. In creating the activities, we thought about new and interesting ways to acquire Black Armory weapons and gear.
For the Forsaken theme, I originally had the idea of creating two images that complemented one another in layout. My original idea was to have the first image based around a focus on Cayde-6 and the second image with a focus on Uldren Sov and his Barons.
We’re here today to take a look at everything coming exclusively to PS4 players in Forsaken: a new armor set for each class, a wild new Exotic weapon, a new ship, and a new Strike set in the Tangled Shore.
Hey PlayStation Nation, this is DeeJ from Bungie. If you haven’t joined the Destiny 2 community yet, or if you’re a Guardian who missed out on your chance to defend the City against a new enemy, a free trial is about to start on PS4. It starts on Friday, June 29 at 12:01 am Pacific and runs until Monday, July 2 at 10:00 am Pacific, but you can start the preload right now.
Throughout this trial, you can experience the full Destiny 2 campaign, from the invasion of our home to the final battle against Ghaul of the Red Legion. You can create your own character and collect the weapons and gear you’ll need to become more powerful. Experience all the improvements and changes to the game since the launch in September, including our Go Fast Update. Take on your fellow players in the Crucible or pledge your loyalties to a Faction that will send you back out to the stars with a whole new set of orders.
Of all the characters in the universe of Destiny, Cayde-6 has been one of the series’ most popular. The wise-crackin’ Hunter Vanguard has been one of Bungie’s most recognizable faces (and voices, thanks to the inimitable Nathan Fillion) for years — so why did they just kill him off during our E3 2018 Showcase?
We caught up with the project lead on Destiny 2: Forsaken, Scott Taylor, to get some answers.
“It just kept going on this upwards trajectory of fun,” explains Lars Bakken excitedly. Gambit’s Design Lead is talking about the growing list of gameplay mechanics that would go on to shape Destiny’s all-new activity.
While the specifics of what Gambit would be have evolved over the past 18 months, two things remained constant: its name, and its adherence to three core design philosophies: new, different, innovative.
“We wanted something that took the best parts of Destiny and smashed them together,” remembers Game Director Steve Cotton.
Hello again, PlayStation Nation!
We’re at Paris Games Week to talk about the next destination on your journey. If you saw the livestream, you know that we just revealed ‘Curse of Osiris,’ the first Expansion to Destiny 2. If you missed it, check out the trailer above for the next story we’re telling with your Guardian as the hero.
