We’re happy to announce that we will soon begin testing the long-awaited feature that will allow users to change their PlayStation Network Online ID from their PlayStation 4 system. The PSN Online ID Change feature beta will be a part of the PlayStation Preview Program, and will become available to select users that have pre-registered as testers for previous PS4 system software betas.
Today I’m pleased to share an important new moment in PlayStation history that will power the next 20 years of PlayStation innovation.
The formation of SIE will create an even stronger PlayStation. That means an even bigger emphasis on developing pioneering platforms like PS4 and PlayStation VR, world-class games from our World Wide Studios development teams, and innovative network services such as PlayStation Vue.
We are announcing the formation of a new company called Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC (SIE) that will serve as the headquarters for everything PlayStation. This new company, headquartered out of the United States in San Mateo, California, joins the forces of both Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. and Sony Network Entertainment LLC, combining the strengths and talents of both companies.
Clan support on a console sounds easy enough to do, but consider… it’s never been done before, and maybe for good reasons. It’s big. It’s messy. It impacts everything. It’s not easy. That’s why building Communities for PS4 appealed to Khoi Do, a senior engineer on the PlayStation Network team. “I actually switched teams because of this feature,” says Do. “There were a lot of question marks. I was a little worried, but that made it fun.”
Very soon I will clock my third full year of involvement with Powers. I’m not certain of the exact date, but that anniversary is going to hit almost exactly on the March 10th Powers premiere date. Let’s hear it for synchronicity.
Starting today, PlayStation Network (PSN) users will gain the ability to upgrade a sub account to a master account. We’re always listening to user feedback, and this is a feature that many of you have asked for. You’ll be able to upgrade an account first through the web and later through PlayStation 4.
UPDATE: Due to high traffic on PlayStation Store, you may encounter error messages or issues. We advise you try again a little later. Note: In order to download 2 games at no cost, you must redeem them from the “Welcome Back” category.
If you can’t find the ‘Welcome Back Free Game 1 or 2’ products, the list of available titles or a game you’ve selected, go to your XMB>PlayStation Network>Account Management>Transaction Management>Services List>SCEA Promotions to complete the process.
