Grand Theft Auto V tops the chart for the second month straight! Is this reignited interest thanks to the Red Dead hype train kicking into gear? Or perhaps it’s the impressive new “After Hours” DLC just added to GTA Online. Maybe it’s that Stone Hatchet you can unlock in GTA and RDR2. Either way, congrats Rockstar!
When I first came in contact with Richard Hill-Whitall, two things were immediately obvious: he had a deep love and respect for video game history, and he was super passionate about pixel art. It was no surprise to me that he chose to marry these passions into his own creation, a game called Super Life of Pixel.
Rich and his small team of “bedroom coders” at Super Icon painstakingly recreated 19 legendary systems spanning three decades of gaming. They paid careful attention to the art styles, technical limitations and the intangible “feel” of each system and their respective eras. Some of these classically inspired consoles you may immediately recognize, and others may be new to you – but they all played an important role in the building of this industry that I love. And besides that, they’re freaking fun!
Unlike some other games that are developed in secret and then announced about six months before launch, Chasm has been in the public eye pretty much from the beginning. Our first post about the game was on IndieDB.com back in January 2013, and we launched a successful Kickstarter campaign just a few months later. It is with a combination of pride, exuberation, relief, and fear that I am hereby officially announcing that we will be launching on July 31! The price will be $19.99.
Although we’ve been very public about our development process, there’s no way everyone can keep up with every game in development, so here’s a quick summary of the game: Chasm is an RPG-adventure in which you play the role of a new recruit who’s sent to investigate why a nearby mining town has shut down. As you explore, you discover all sorts of supernatural creatures you need to battle to uncover the mystery of what’s happening with the town, and how you can save them.
July is almost here and summer is in full swing, so let’s take a look at the July lineup for PS Plus members.
But before we begin, did you watch the E3 showcase? If you happened to miss news, PS Plus members can get Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 right now as part of your membership. This bonus title is in celebration of the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. It’s available from now until July 11.
Now onto games for July!
We are excited to announce that Rainbow Skies, a game that has been in development for over five years, will launch exclusively on PS4, PS3 and PS Vita on June 26 in North America.
